Chief Minister Thakur, also said that Under NDPS Act 1985, there are a set of rules for the cultivation, plantation, transportation of cannabis in the state. He also added that he had brought resolution on this on June 24, 2004, under private member day in the assembly.
According to Thakur, the growing cannabis industry in the world and the demand for cannabis in Uttarakhand lead him to take this decision.
